John believes residents of Margate should be given another opportunity to vote in favour of a Parish or Town Council. "The last consultation was inadequately publicised. Residents were not given enough information about the benefits of having a parish or town council and consequently they were not fully informed."

John saw the selling off of our council homes by the Conservatives during the 1980's. John lived through the Labour Government's empty promises in the 1990s to build new council homes. "Money promised for social housing was used instead to fund the Iraq War," John Finnegan recalls. "In all their years in office, Labour built little social housing. We in Thanet are now dealing with the consequences of this."

"If voted onto Thanet District Council, I will oppose UKIPs building of executive homes. I will encourage the development of shared equity schemes to help first time buyers and also Housing Cooperatives where tenants could self manage their housing estates."

"Margate is on the up, but let's face facts," says John Finnegan, local resident and campaigner, "Margate has a litter and fly tipping problem."

"We in Margate are fed up with the mess. Much of the litter is due to carelessly storing rubbish which then gets attacked by seagulls and scattered wide by the wind."
