After a hectic few months campaign- ing for local elections and the General Election, we will be concentrating on building the local party for the coming year. These are crucial times for our country. Joining the Lib Dems shows that you aren't just moaning about the situation, but want to get stuck in and change things for the better. With membership having grown nationally to over 100,000, and since early 2015 from 70 to nearly 300 in the East Kent Coast area, we are eager to mobilise you all.

Remember, this is genuinely a party where every member matters, it isn't run by trade union barons or men in grey suits. Every member has a vote (and a wallet!), and we depend on you to support our efforts locally.

We hold our AGM on 18 November in Whitfield Village Hall near Dover, everyone is welcome; you can also at- tend our annual dinner on 8 November in Broadstairs (details below) or one of the regular get togethers we arrange in Thanet and Dover, which are publicised on our website. We hope to make sure each member is more than just a name on a mailing list, but part of a team which is setting out to win.

        And win we can.

We will be learning how to campaign effectively, with support from Antony Hook, who moved from Deal to Faversham this year and won a 'no-hope' Council ward, turning a 4% vote into a 48% winning margin. Preparing for the District elections in 2019, we will choose a ward in each District (one in Thanet and one in the Dover area) to focus on and use as a training base.
Every vote matters. In the General Election we lost East Fife constituency by just two votes, and Sarah Olney lost Richmond Park by only 45. So every effort that we make to talk to people on the doorstep, or reach them through posts on Facebook or tweets, can count.

Join us in rolling back the negative rhetoric of the Daily Mail, the bumbling ineffectiveness of the Tory/DUP Government, and the vacillation of the Labour party, and spelling out to this region what a positive Britain and a promising future could look like with the Liberal Democrats.

        Thank you!

        Martyn Pennington
Chair of East Kent Coast Liberal Democrats
