Margate needs Affordable Housing

July 28, 2017 5:00 PM

John Finnegan is standing for election to Thanet District Council in Margate on the 3rd August 2017

John saw the selling off of our council homes by the Conservatives during the 1980's. John lived through the Labour Government's empty promises in the 1990s to build new council homes. "Money promised for social housing was used instead to fund the Iraq War," John Finnegan recalls. "In all their years in office, Labour built little social housing. We in Thanet are now dealing with the consequences of this."

"If voted onto Thanet District Council, I will oppose UKIPs building of executive homes. I will encourage the development of shared equity schemes to help first time buyers and also Housing Cooperatives where tenants could self manage their housing estates."

"Longer term, I will put pressure on Government to provide more social and affordable housing for the next generation who want to continue to live in Margate."
