A message from East Kent Coast Liberal Democrats

Dear All

I write to you today in response to the events that unfolded over last night into this morning as Britain voted on EU membership. Most of you, I know, will be devastated at the result. We always knew it would be close yet few in their heart of hearts really foresaw the outcome.

Throughout the campaign, we Liberal Democrats stood for what we have always believed in - to maintain unity with the EU and to fully integrate with our neighbours. Europe, as the late Charles Kennedy once said, "is in our DNA". I would like to thank each and every one of you for the fantastic level of support you have given both to the Liberal Democrats and to 'Stronger In'.

I know many of you will today feel very uncertain about the future. You are not alone. But we will stand together as we always have and fight on, continuing to work for the betterment of our communities who will now need us more than ever, and for our country. Let's move forward with a positive mood, let's build on the future and let's stand united as Liberal Democrats.

Over the next few days, we will be sending out a reminder of all our upcoming events which we encourage you to attend. Please do invite along all those friends and family members who would like to join us as supporters or members. And if you haven't already done so, I ask you all to take the time to listen to today's speech by our leader, Tim Farron.

With very best regards

Chair - East Kent Coast Liberal Democrats.
